Cat Mail Co Hot Room
Complete Cat Mail Co Hot Room guide — heat constraint parcels, heated storage, hot sticker workflow, and pairing with the Cold Room.
What Is the Hot Room?
The Hot Room — also called the heated room in-game — is a progression expansion that introduces the Hot Constraint, the mirror opposite of the Cold Room's refrigeration hazard. Parcels requiring sustained warmth suffer damage if left in unheated mailroom zones or on the cold dock during daytime shifts.
Unlocking the Hot Room adds a second temperature layer to package handling alongside fragile, heavy, and cold modifiers. Patch Note #1 (July 11, 2026) reduced parcel pile counts in both temperature rooms, making the dual cold/hot onboarding less overwhelming. See our Cold Room guide for the refrigerated counterpart.
Hot Constraint Mechanics
When the conveyor scanner flags a parcel with a heat icon, you must apply the hot temperature sticker in stamp mode and move the package into the Hot Room immediately. Leaving heat-sensitive mail in standard storage or on the outdoor dock during the day causes cold-damage penalties on your shift summary — the inverse of leaving cold parcels in warm zones.
Run backlog boxes through the scanner even when stamps look complete. Pre-stamped junk from the backroom can carry hidden Hot or Cold constraints that only the scanner reveals. Standard non-hot parcels can safely wait in the Hot Room overnight without damage, just as the Cold Room accepts universal storage.
Identifying Hot Parcels
The scanner monitor displays an active heat hazard icon when a customer parcel requires warming. Follow the same three-step counter workflow used for all constraints:
- Portal scan: Drag the parcel into the scanner bay and read the ring color for postage tier.
- Destination stamps: Apply the correct regional stamp face — Port Windy blue or Sunny Shores green/pink.
- Hot modifier: Apply the hot temperature sticker when the heat icon appears, then store in the Hot Room.
The achievement Hot, Hot, Hot! unlocks when you correctly identify and sticker your first hot parcel. Our hot parcels video guide demonstrates the unlock in live gameplay. Full scanner ring reference in our Package Handling guide.
Hot Room Stacking Rules
Hot parcels combine with other hazard types. Use this placement guide inside the Hot Room:
| Combination | Placement |
|---|---|
| Hot + Heavy | Bottom shelf layer — heavy physics still applies |
| Hot + Fragile | Top shelf only — nothing stacked above |
| Standard hot box | Mid-level heated shelves away from cold drafts |
Keep hot and cold parcels in separate staging zones. Mixing temperature constraints in the same shelf row increases mistake risk during busy dusk loading.
Dusk Transfer Protocol
Hot parcels follow the same sunset timing rules as cold mail — the outdoor dock is an uncontrolled temperature zone:
- Day phase: Stamp hot outgoing mail and store inside the Hot Room. Never leave it on the dock.
- Captain arrives: Finish the final walk-in customer before collecting temperature-sensitive outgoing mail.
- Hot Room run: Gather all outgoing hot parcels from the Hot Room before ringing the bell.
- Rapid transfer: Move hot boxes to the boat deck using heavy-bottom / fragile-top stacking rules.
- Instant departure: Ring the bell immediately to minimize exposure on the uncooled dock.
Our Boat Loading guide covers multi-route captain schedules and physics stacking for combined hot, cold, and standard cargo.
Managing Cold & Hot Together
Mid-progression shifts may require both Cold Room and Hot Room operations in the same day. Dedicate separate shelves in your processing area: one cold staging zone near the Cold Room door, one hot staging zone near the Hot Room entrance. Never store designated cold parcels in the Hot Room or vice versa — only standard transit mail is safe in either room as universal overnight storage.
Patch #1 reduced initial pile counts in both rooms so new postmasters can learn one temperature system before the other overwhelms the floor. Our Progression guide ranks temperature-room unlocks alongside Bulk Weighing and the Summer Room.

Frequently Asked Questions
When does the Hot Room unlock?
During mid-progression after advancing the main postal storyline — similar timing to the Cold Room expansion.
What happens if I leave hot parcels outside?
They suffer cold-damage penalties. Move them to the Hot Room immediately after applying the hot sticker.
Can I store normal parcels in the Hot Room?
Yes. Standard Port Windy or Sunny Shores packages are safe in the Hot Room overnight.
How do I identify a hot parcel?
The scanner displays a heat hazard icon. Apply the hot temperature sticker in stamp mode before storage.
Do hot and cold parcels use the same dock rules?
Yes. Transfer both from their respective rooms at dusk only — never leave temperature-sensitive mail on the dock during daytime.
